Jake's Surgery

Just wanted to let everyone know that Jake is doing great! He hurt his hand at work in November, and had surgery scheduled for December 19. It was such a loooong day-I really felt bad for Jake because we arrived at the surgical center at 12:30 pm and waited and waited and waited some more, to the point that Jaxon got cranky so we decided to come home for a while and wait to get a phone call that Jake was out of surgery (I had been told it would be about 2 to 2 1/2 hrs.) I figured it was getting close to the time that he would be out of surgery, so I decided to go back to the center and see what was going on. The nurse had told me he was still in pre-op-he had been waiting for almost 3 hours! I knew he was so hungry and thirsty, but he was going into surgery any time so once again Jaxon and I left Jake and came back again 2 more hours later and this time I found out he was in surgery! So I left again and ran some errands and came back AGAIN! He was in recovery and awake, but I wasn't allowed in the recovery room, so Jaxon and I went into a waiting room and waited till we, along with other families went to meet their family members. By the time we left it was a little after 7 pm!! We are just both glad that it's all over with, he's been doing really well! Lucky for him the nurse told him that he couldn't be on diaper/tub duty or dish duty for at least 10 days! Even through it all Jake has never complained about the pain before surgery, or after! He wants to unwrap the bandage to look at his stitches, but he knows for one I can't handle things like that and he isn't supposed to take it off!! Thanks for all your support and prayers! The worst part about all this is that I've had the flu since last night but I am feeling better too, and Jaxon is the happiest/funniest baby! I'm so grateful to stay home with him and enjoy every minute with just the two of us! Of course, we love when daddy comes home to play too! Hope all is well for your families.....MERRY CHRISTMAS

Christmas Party

This is a pic of Jaxon at our ward Christmas party! He LOVES candy canes! He sucks on them so loudly-you know that he is enjoying his treats when he sucks and chomps!! His hands and shirt always get very sticky!

Disneyland Fun

This is what Cinderella's Castle usually looks like at night....

This is Cinderella's Castle decorated for Christmas! It was sooo fun to watch the fireworks and parades and then watch the castle turn white and glittery!

When we went, Disneyland was in transition of Thanksgiving and Christmas-this tree was beautiful, and HUGE! It even "snowed" everyone was sooo excited (except us from Utah, cause we see it all the time!) The "snow" was just soap suds blowing everywhere!

Who doesn't love the tea cups?!

"It's a Small World" opened for the first time in 2 years! Jake and I went on our honeymoon to Disneyland, and the ride closed shortly after we went there, until now! Everything was re-done the line for it was CRAZY! We got to go on it right before the park closed because "Soaring Over California" shut down right before our party was to go on the ride, so they gave our party a pass that gets you on any ride of your choice-so we went on "Small World" again, and got to go right up to the front of the line and get right on the ride! It was so fun!

More Fun in Disneyland

Walking around California Adventures, Brooklyn wanted to walk every where, she wanted be right next to Jaxon in his stroller-she is a very good babysitter, always on the lookout for baby Jaxon!

Jaxon enjoying one of many suckers, thanks to Grandma!!

Me and my sister on Space Mountain-after this ride I did not feel good for a little while, of course who would after going on a roller coaster in the dark!!

Poor Little Boy...

I took Jaxon to the pediatrician on Friday, and he is in the 50% percentile for his weight, 90% percentile for his height, and 95% percentile for the size of his head! He only had to have one shot too, but he screamed for a while after, but that happens every time! The doctor told us we could start him on whole milk!

Then on Saturday night I noticed that he had some small red bumps on the back of his neck, and he had kept tugging at his ears earlier that day, to the point that his skin was bright red behind his ears....I gave him tylenol that night, and just held him for a while before he fell asleep. Every couple of hours I could hear a little whimper, but he was still sound asleep! I knew that he just didn't feel very good, but I knew it couldn't be his teeth because he always is drooling like crazy, and he has a runny nose along with it, but he didn't have either!

On Sunday, he was sitting on my lap in Sacrament, and I noticed red bumps all over his neck, and I looked down his shirt and saw he had them all over his back! Jake took Jaxon out into the hall about four or five times cause Jaxon wasn't the least bit happy. That NEVER happens! Jaxon is pretty much always happy and content! He usually loves to watch all the people around us!

Today I took him back to the pediatrician, to make sure it wasn't a big deal, but I am soooo glad I did go, because Jaxon has Roseola. It's starts as a fever, and then breaks into a rash that starts on your torso and moves to your back and arms and legs! It's unknown how it's caused or how it can be treated except for Tylenol. The doctor gave us some Zyrtec to help alleviate any allergies he may have, and then told me to give him a small dose of Benedryl to help clear it up! I've also been putting Caladryl all over his body. The virus is contageous, and more likely for kids to get than adults, but it is frustrating not knowing how it's caused! It's supposed to last anywhere from 3 to 7 days! I just hope he starts feeling better soon!

You are thoughtful and care very deeply for your family. A loving home is of great
importance to you and you always try to make people feel welcome. Although you have a great capacity to love, you also have a great capacity to hurt, so at times you can be
sensitive. You're firm when you need to be, but people trust your judgment and
appreciate the kind way you always handle things.

Scrapbook Expo

Jaxon got his 12 month shots today, which was no fun for either of us, but he was such a brave little guy! I told him if he was good I'd take him to the Scrapbook Expo!! Just kidding Dad-I told him we were going to this cool place that had lots of tools that are very useful! Anyhoo, I remembered I had a free admission coupon to get in, and can I just say that I was excited for that? You betcha, because when I got to the Dixie Center I saw that admission was $12.00! INSANE! So I got my wristband, and walked into a mecca of stamps, embellishments, and ahhhh the sweet smell of scrapbook paper! It was like Christmas! And who doesn't LOVE the free make and takes ?! I got sooooo much stuff, and I spent under $100.00! Let's face it, scrapbooking costs about as much as it does for my husbands golf, guns, and sunflower seed addiction! So I think I deserve to go a little crazy, but yet I still come home and here "more scrapbooking.....are you sure you need more?" all I gotta say is "yup" end of story! I LOVE to scrapbook! Anyone could get me a gift card to a scrapbook store, and I think that would be THE BEST gift I could ever get!

FREE Make 'n Take Christmas Tags (I think I'll use them for neighbor gifts this year!)

Jaxon's 1 Year Pictures

These are Jaxon's 1 year pictures that Angie and Jamie did for us! I think that they turned out great! I posted the first picture so everyone could see the look that we always get! It's kind of a scuzz, but confused, and irritated all wrapped into one look! I can't help but laugh when he does it, and sometimes he squints harder when I do!! He does the same look when he has his hands up in the air, like he's telling them off, cause they aren't doing what he wants them to do! I can't believe Jaxon is one! We have enjoyed every minute of being parents, and it's been even better because my baby has been the most laid back, happy baby! We love our little guy!

Halloween Fun!

We had so much fun on Halloween!! We went to a trunk or treat down the street from my sister's house in Clinton! We got tons of candy in about 20 min. and didn't have to go door to door! I'm definately going to look for a trunk or treat for years to come! Brooklyn was Minnie Mouse, (perfect because she can wear it when we go to Disneyland in a few weeks) Jaxon was Baby Dracula, and Amber dressed up with fun witch shoes/socks and Awesome eyelashes, and I was a Witch!

Jaxon's 1st Birthday!!

Pumpkin Patch

While Jaxon and I were up north, we went to a pumpkin patch with Brooklyn and Amber and Paul! We picked out some pumpkins, went through a maze of hay, and ran around the field! Brooklyn had so much fun running through the maze!

Jaxon Falling off the Bed!!

Yesterday after church, I was changing and so I put Jaxon on the bed for just a minute-long enough to go to my closet and hang up my dress and come back, and watched Jaxon falling to the floor! I was soooooo upset, and worried that he really had hurt himself, because he flipped all the way over and landed on his face. You could see a bump on his forehead, and his nose was a little red, and then I saw blood under his little nose and then he started screaming! He cried for what seemed to be an eternity (only because he never really gets too upset) so I held him until I had to go to a meeting. I really didn't want to leave him since he'd been so upset, but when I came home, he was my smiling, happy little boy again! Today he has a scrape on his nose, but he is still just as happy as he always is! I will never leave him on the bed again, that is for sure!

Yummy Grilled Peaches

Yesterday I saw this on tv, and thought that it would be a yummy treat to make! I would have never thought to grill up some peaches! It's delicious-almost like a peach cobbler without the crust! I also put a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream, and the glaze was TO DIE FOR!! Here is this yummy recipe:

4 large peaches
2-3 Tbs. water
4 Tbs. butter (I didn't use this much butter)
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
pinch of salt
1 tsp. rum extract (I used Almond)
Vanilla ice-cream

In a sauce pan, combine butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, rum extract, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat for 3-5 min. until thick and syrupy.
Meanwhile, wash and dry the peaches and cut in half. Remove the pits. Spray the peaches lightly with Pam. Place cut side down and grill over med-high heat for about 5 minutes, or until grill marks appear. Turn peaches over and spoon the brown sugar syrup mixture over the top, filling up the pit cavity. Continue grilling until the syrup is bubbly and the peaches are soft. Serve warm with vanilla ice-cream and more syrup drizzled over the top!

Hope you enjoy it as much as we did! If you have any yummy recipes to share-please email me!!! I am always looking for new recipes!

Breaking Dawn

I finally finished Breaking Dawn last night! I think it's probably my favorite out of all the "Twilight" series books. Although, it felt like the ending was being dragged out a little bit, I really enjoyed everything else about the book. I do think that Bella is a bit whiney-who wouldn't love two guys fighting over them?! She also was constantly wondering if she wanted to be a vampire-I say Edward should just bite her in her sleep, and get it over with all ready! I have heard people have mixed feelings about Breaking Dawn, and I must say that there are some things I wish were different, but overall it's my favorite! Now that I'm finished, I look forward to going to bed at a decent time, and look forward to hearing what every one else thinks about the book! I hope people enjoyed it as much as I did!

Happy Anniversary

We are excited to say that today is our 2 year anniversary! It's crazy because I feel like I've known Jake forever, but here we are with celebrating only 2 years! I'm so grateful he is my husband! I'm so lucky to have a husband who is my best friend, and that it doesn't matter what we are doing, we always just enjoy each other's company. He got me this pendant of my birthstone-don't mind my red skin-I was laying out all day and got fried!:) I'm so grateful for Jaxon too, I can't imagine my life being any more perfect than it all ready is!

Jaxon loves Jell-O!

This was Jaxon's first time eating Jell-O! He thought it was weird at first, but then he loved it, so I dumped it out on the tray and let him play with it! He would pick it up and just stare at his hand forever (he's so curious!), and then it seemed like every time he tried to put it in is mouth, he'd drop it! These are just a few pics of my messy boy!
